Javvy and Frieda, founders of House of Hackney and I share the same values when it comes to bringing people together and enhancing energy. We have an innate understanding of vibrations. Whether it’s vibrations from humans or nature, it doesn’t matter. We know ultimately that we (humans, earth, elements, nature) are all energy and we want to enhance and invigorate energy through what we do.
House of Hackney (for those that haven’t come across them) are a company that designs wallpaper inspired by the world we live in. Connecting you to the world we live in! Last year they took an opportunity to move into a castle in Cornwall, England, called Trematon Castle. It’s a perfect fit for them as it’s surrounded by lush gardens and wild nature. Perfect for their inspiration. (And what better place to put up your wallpaper?!)

For me, teaching people to connect to themselves is a big driver behind how to achieve results in the body. Putting your attention on your physical self and thinking about your movement changes your energy and your vibrations and things start to change. And they start to change on a cellular level. That's how you get rid of pent up tightness, chronic pain and other ailments that just don’t seem to shift.
My approach to the body, movement and vibrations goes well with the ethos of House of Hackney’s Summer of (Self)Love where they opened the doors of Trematon, to the public to enjoy a 3 night stay at the castle. There was amazing food - ingredients from the grounds of the castle, massage, movement classes (🙋🏽♀️) and a beautiful space - inside and out, to unwind and connect to nature and oneself.
We ran the classes for the month of August and I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed teaching each and everyone one of the guests. We had time after class to have a discussion as a group and individually. Although they were on a little holiday and the mood was relaxed, we dove into some big topics within the body, such as deep breathing and how it relates to muscle tension, what actually causes bad posture and how we improve it and the feeling of connecting physically and energetically inwards.
It was a real month of unwinding, healing, connecting and strengthening classes. It was because the guests (clients of House of Hackney) were open to experience. It’s from this place (openness) where you can really tap in deep and get an incredible understanding of your physical self and therefore results in the body.
There were some exercises that became favourites over the month and I thought it would be nice to share them with you, so I’ve made a playlist on YouTube called ‘Trematon Castle 2020 Popular Guests Exercises’. I’ll put the link below so you can do them yourself.
Some of you reading this I know, have done these before. But this time, if you choose to do these exercises, approach them differently. Approach them like we did at Trematon Castle. Here are the cues:
When you're ready and on your mat. Start with taking a moment to focus your attention outwards on something far away
Then bring your attention to reading distance away
Then bring your attention inside you. Repeat steps 1-3.
Whilst keeping your attention in you, your inner self, take 3 deep breaths and feel the air enter you and leave you
Then begin the exercises
As you do each exercise, go slow and focus your attention on each body part and feel what is happening
Listen to the cues in the video to help guide you on what to focus on
Enjoy moving with body in mind.
Breath deep, go slow, unwind but focus in
I hope you enjoy taking this approach, it really is a great way to get to know your physical self to help you regulate and become your own healer.
